It must be; I've read a preview of Elderscrolls 3(it's been delayed until 16th of May in Europe), and even that game doesn't seem as good as Gothic 2.

I have a question about Gothic 2 I heard it is from the same enegie form Gothic (1) bud, the screenshot seems better then the energie of Gothic

Read the TomTom post under this one.
I think the engine is the same, but improved. That can be done with an engine as time passes, and I think they improved the perfomance of it.
It sure looks like Gothic 1 with an improvement. |

Like the Lightech 2 engine of Might and Magic 9. A few small changes can improve the graphics.
The graphics of Gothic looks like the Lightech 3 engine however. |
