When I bought the game, I installed it, and had it at Medium settings, when I play the game, it would be in slow-mo, slower in big outdoor expansions though, and when I talk to NPC's it takes forever in between their sentences... and my game crashes after about 20-30 mins of play... is the a patch for Gothic II American version? I've tried the game on all setting, Best Graphics, Worst Graphics, every setting turned down, every setting turned up, but it's all the same, any help over here? My comp specs are:
256DDR RAM
1.4GHZ
64MB GeForce 2

First, try to upgrade your RAM; the game needs at least 512 MB to run comfortably well. |

*ahem* 256DDR RAM is the equivalent to 512SD RAM, here ends our math session today. |

To be exact, there is SDRAM up to 133MHz and DDRRAM starting from there (~about). So their relative speed (!) can be anything from 1:1 to 1:4 AFAIK.

I have 512 DDR, and it's barely enough...

Don't think so. DDR is double speed, not double size.

You got your answer: Go buy more RAM for your marginal system. ...and quit trying to educate people on things you know nothing about.

the same problems ecxactly with you men....what can I say
maybe our memory isnt enough...

My system is similar to yours, but I have 1G RAM, and it runs pretty smooth with all settings maxed out. I guess G2 needs lots of ram.

Just waiting holidays to over and the stores finally open.Then you and I can at last say hello to my new RAM lol.I have saved some money.Wanted to buy a limited edition of Gothic][ if I could find it in stores but what the hell let it be.....HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL.....HO....HO.....HO....

I have ALL settings maxed out with a Win XP setup, 512 fast ram, Radeon 9600 Pro, 1.7 GHZ Athlon XP. It runs well, although I have had 4 or 5 crashes since I started and I'm about 30 or so hours into it.
I've found that the game runs more sluggish after I've been doing other things with my computer for long periods before starting. I always reboot my machine before I start gothic and make sure there are no other programs hogging up the RAM. Seems to help. Gothic 2 is a simply amazing game. |

Exactly. 256 MB is not enough for fluent gameplay. The speed differences between the most common types of RAM are too small to compensate lack of memory.
