Erm, even the best mages don't have much more than 6 life at the first level. They may have high Constitutions, but they're hardly warriors.

Actually, I think 6 is the max HP score for a starting mage. The computer rolled a four sided die for your starting hitpoints, then added two points for the good Constitution score.

So yeah, keep him like that. Just don't send him into melee too much.

Initially on a creation stage there is a limit of spells you can put in your book. I believe it will be three for specialist mage. I don't think you can put more on generation stage. Not that there is a need for more in the beginning: magic missle, shiled and identify - and you're ready to go With regard to writing more spells later - see my another post about spells

I was going to post that observation too. He's always talking (in the third person) about how he's going to rule the world and how everyone should bow down to him. But I think his name is actually Tiamax. I could be wrong. You run into him in the second game too.

For GothicSoul

OK, unless you want to dual this guy to a fighter later on, you do NOT need strength. You wont be able to wield most weapons anyway. Wisdom, while not of major importance to a Mage, is still more important than Strength. So just substitute the points and get the game started, already!

Argh. I knew it was something along those lines. I really should play through the BG games again. I've forgotten everything.

No need to get mad, GothicSoul. I told you before in an earlier post that Wisdom increases a character's Magic Resistance. In the case of a mage (conjurer), magic resistance is more important than strength, in my opinion.

It is Awesome just 25 minutes hitting the Reroll button I've made my mage a Illusionist since My opossite school is the Great but Weak Necromancy. I woul like choosin Necromancy since it is something I really Like a lot But Illusion is just right for me.

I just activate the cheat codes and hit the key during generation that gives me straight 18s and adjust the stats to what I want. I hate spending hours clicking 'reroll' (Memories of Wizardry 1 scarred me for life on the process).

Cheat Code???? Oh now you tell me that after I spend 25 minutes of my life hitting the reroll Ok I don't like cheating that much anyway.

It's only cheating if you keep the straight 18s.

My view on cheats and such are this: If you're going to exploit... at least do it quickly. You could get straight 25 stats in BG if you played the game a dozen times and got all the manuals. You could start the game at level 5 if you killed the poor mage in the first inn, exported, and restarted a dozen times.

Why spend 20 hours getting all 25 stats? Why spend two hours killing the same wizard and exporting? You know what you want... use a cheat and get it and get on with the game. If you find it too easy afterwards you have nobody to blame but yourself.

Ok don't feel guilty I understand you and I'll do the same after finishing BG just to feel great power.

You won't feel more power. You'll feel hollow. It's no fun if a character can cakewalk the game.

Modify for efficiency... don't cheat for power.
