I have question: should I try f. e. Might and Magic 8 or any other previous part?
P. S.: I like games with at least "good" graphics (compared with todays standarts).
6 was the first I played, and I played it for MOTHS. Seven actually is better, but who cares about that Eight is HIGHLY unbalanced, so play the others first. |

Started at the beginning on a C-64. Missed the Xeen games, came back with MM6 when I finally had a REAL computer. Picked up the Ultimate Might and Magic Archives, best $35 I ever spent, so I've done them all except for 9, which I haven't even seen in my area. Since there was no problem with 6-8, that tells me 3DO is in some DEEP kimshee. |

have only played 3-5!
part 5 was the best...the darkside of xeen was very cool looking and crazy monsters were there (evil faeries and such *lol*)
i don't like to hear 6-9 have only 4 chars and changed other stuff too
but I think will start soon with 6 or 7 |

The switch to 4 chars is an improvement, in that you will be able to spend time developing each to his/hers/its potential. THe skill system demands more advanced planning, and with 6 it would be too much. You will not miss the other 2, I promise! _________________ =Member of The Nonflamers' Guild=

Ok, I started with MM1. I had it at home on my Commodore 64, and I bought a copy for the Apple IIe at school (high school that is). What a great game. I remember seeing ads for it in Commodore magazine. Drool. I loved fighting the dragons. XP galore!. Then came MM2, loved it. MM3-pretty good. MM4+5-as good as MM1. MM6-7, ok but not as good as MM1. I haven't played 8, but I have MM9 now, and it's OK. Not as good as I had hoped, but better than I feared. It was good enough to get me away from Dungeon Seige! _________________ Oh, freddled gruntbuggly, thy micturations are to me....

If you've played MM7, you probably aren't missing much by skipping MM8. I enjoyed MM8, but it was a definite step backward from MM7. The story wasn't as good, and the balancing was way out of whack. _________________ =Proud Member of the Non-Flamers Guild=

Sorry. No pearls of wisdom in this oyster.

mm6 was the first for me, it even was the first RPG for me. Even though 7 was way better (more balanced, class actually means something, multiple races etc etc) I still like 6 better. No idea why actually, but I still remember walking around with my lvl100+ party 3 years (game time) after I saved Enroth |

I am glad I am not the only one that feels that way My party was also lvl 100+, but that was when I finished...hmmm... guess I took the slow road.
Seriously, I have tried to figure out why I enjoyed six more than seven. THe only thing I can come up with is the sheer size and diversity of six. That and the timing of it's release ... it was the first quality fantasy CRPG out in quite some time. _________________ =Member of The Nonflamers' Guild=
