Gothic 2: Review @ NL Gaming

A score of 86% is the result of Next Level Gaming's 'Gothic II' review.
Easily an underappreciated RPG, Gothic possessed a rich world, interesting advancement system and tons of characters to interact with. Unfortunately, its combat and control system turned a lot of gamers off, and minor things like a lack of a in-game map made exploration frustrating. The story was quirky but very interesting. If you were able to look past the control issues, this hybrid RPG had one tale to tell. You were a prisoner sealed in the mine valley of Khorinis, kept imprisoned by a magical barrier. As a shunned convict in the world, through the course of your adventures you forged friendships, made allies became stronger in a quest to vanquish evil (what else) and destroy the magical barrier.

The controls are excellent - at least for me. The less mouse usage the better in an RPG. Now that I've beaten 'Gothic 2' I'm now re-playing 'Gothic 1' and loving every minute of it.

There were freaking in-game maps galore - you could buy them at Khorinis. What are we living in - a world of Stupids???? ?

If you ask me... not having an ingame map makes the game more realistic... besides.... if you have to... print out a copy of the map and label the ares yourself.. that wa y you have it for yourself...
