tAKING BEER FROM CHEST

i JUST STARTED AND THERE IS BEER IN A CHEST. i OPEN IT AND CLOSE IT BUT CANNOT GET THE BEER INTO MY INVENTORY. tHERE IS A SCREEN TO THE LEFT THAT HAS PICTURES AND NOS OF ITEMS BUT I CANNOT FIGURE OUT TO ACTIVATE IT, READ IT, ETC. WHAT USE IS IT.

Highlight one of the objects on the left (use the arrow keys) and press the 'action' key plus the 'right' key to move it to your inventory.
Items in your inventory are used in a similar fashion - highlight the object you want by using the arrow keys to 'scroll' through your belongings, then hit the 'action' key (left control by default) plus the 'up/forward' key.
