Stuck Chapter 5

I am stuck in chapter 5. The lord says he is waiting for supplies to come in before he leaves with the troops to go to the valley. I slept 7 days to see if time would pass but he is still waiting for supplies.

Also I opened the book from Varsath and he says there is a secret door that is guarded by minions. Well the demons he left are in his tower, but when I talked to Pyro I said I opened the book and the secret bookcase is somewhere below the monastery and he said where? and I automatically replied I don't know. So I can't figure out how to get Lord Hagen to go to the mines and how to find the hidden bookcase. Then I guess I have to put together my party of 5. I have already killed the 4 dragons.

Is it essential to complete the desecrated altar quest? I fixed most of them with the holy water but there are a couple I am missing.

Thanks in advance.

Well, at least you got a week off, if you know what I mean.
Gothic has a trigger-driven story, so you'll have do figure something out... Begin in the monastery cellar, I reckon that's the right way to _go_.
Spoiler:
Once entered the Monastery cellar guarded by a named mage, go straight forward and "use" the right torch. Explore the lower compartments and read everything you find.

The "Desecrated Shrines" quest is optional Paladin-specific quest. It's somewhat annoying, but worth doing, I guess. If nothing else, while at it, you will have a chance to check up on all the shrines for possible freebies.

There is a map of shrines somewhere. I think you should get one from this big shot priest when he gives you the assignment.
Otherwise it can be found on forum. Same with caves, you can find map on forum somewhere. That is handy and you can fin yourself a lot of goodies and gather a lot of experience points.

I THINK you can buy that shrine-map also from Gorax.
