Greetings cutters. I've a tale to tell and I hope ya sit and listen to it. A long time ago there was this poor berk that forgot who he was. He woke up on a slab in the Dusties' Mortuary and set out on a quest to find hisself. Eventually, he did and it weren't no happy meeting I tells ya. Well, this tale picks up where that one left off. It all started with a promise.
The place is the city of Sigil. The time doesn't really matter, at least not in a place like Sigil. The stunning, golden-haired woman's name is Fall-From-Grace. As she steps through the door of the Smoldering Corpse Bar, the collected mercenaries turn and stare. She is a tanar'ri, a fiend, a succubus... and each person is entranced by her beauty. She slowly surveys the creatures who have answered her call. You are all mercenaries. Brought here by the promise of gold and some by the promise of adventure. Some have good and honorable intensions, while others? Let's just say that the look of some of those gathered in the bar doesn't strike one as those who care much for good and honor.
"It pleases me that so many have come, but I doubt many of you shall stay after you hear why I have called you here."
There is a little murmuring and a bit of joking and bravado. One man shouts that no matter what he'd happily follow the tanar'ri into the Abyss for a kiss.
"Funny you should mention that, because that is exactly where I plan to go."
The murmuring, jokes and bravado dies.
"As I said, I doubt that many of you shall stay once you have heard all that I have to say."
Welcome to my PnP campaign. Since it is unlikely that Planescape: Torment will ever get a sequel, I'd like the chance to play it as a DM. For those that wish to apply to play in this PnP telling of what happens after the events of Planescape: Torment the PC game, there are several requirements:
1. A familiarity with Planescape: Torment. I'd prefer players to be familiar with the setting so it is easier for them to roleplay.
2. Detailed characters. It's up to the player as to how much of a background they want to put on their character sheet, but I'd like full backgrounds for my resources. That includes their complete history, their likes and dislikes, things that motivate them, etc. For instance, if they have an uncle living in Ragpicker Square, I want to know about it. If they have dragon blood in their veins and will be going for the Dragon Disciple prestige class, I want to know about it. The purpose of this is so I can weave a more interesting story and really draw the character, and subsequently the player, into the story.
No name, faceless heroes that strike down their enemies in one blow are boring.
Creativity is fully encouraged in character creation. Want to play a bard whose face was badly scarred in a fire, but still retains a mesmerizing, beautiful voice, à la Phantom of the Opera, then go for it. That's an interesting character! Heck, if no one picks that character, I'll have to make an NPC character from that idea.
3. The emphasis of the game will be on roleplay and story. Hack and slashers need not apply. Your character will need some type of communication skill, whether it be Diplomacy, Intimidation, Bluffing, etc. They'll still need to knock heads every once in awhile, but they'll spend more time sneaking and talking themselves out of sticky situations. At least until they hit the more difficult portions of the campaign.
4. I'll accept a total of six applications for the campaign. Players will be chosen based on their character. Thus, if your character is a vanilla fighter who stepped through a portal and got dropped off in Sigil, then you probably won't get picked for the campaign. That fighter would need a much better story.
I'd prefer players to think up something more interesting. Like how would a Druid find their nitch in a city like Sigil? Also, since the starting point of the campaign is the city of Sigil, I won't restrict players to only the traditional player races. If you can come up with a good reason for playing a half-fiend, then I'll allow it. If you do play a monsterous race, then they must have a minimum Intelligence of 8 and the ability to speak Common. Also, if you play a race with an alignment that is against it's nature, then it will lose some of it's special abilities. For instance, Fall-From-Grace is a Lawful Neutral tanar'ri. Her nature is Chaotic Evil, but since she turned away from that, she doesn't have all of the normal abilities of a regular succubus.
5. All player characters must be original. No one may pick to play any of the NPCs from the game. I'll be using them in the story. So yes, you'll run across Annah, Morte, Dak'kon, etc. Heck, you could even initiate a romance with any NPC if you want to try. There'll be no guarantee of success though.
"Error (Logic): Nordom does not understand why you keep caressing his head unit. Query: Why do you do this?"

6. Alignments will play an important part in the campaign. They'll affect who likes you, dislikes you and who'd like to pulverize you. I prefer no evil aligned characters, but it is possible to become evil through your actions. Yes, your actions will affect your alingment unless you can come up with a very, very good reason to explain that action and not have the shift occur. This includes both good and evil actions as well as lawful and chaotic actions. So if your character starts out as chaotic neutral, but always runs around perform saintly acts, then expect an alignment shift.
7. Roleplaying will be rewarded. I plan to have a more open style, much like the old roleplaying forum that was on these boards a couple years ago.

I've been replaying PS:T and there were so many things that were never resloved. If they aren't going to give it to me, then I'll make it!
It'd be cool if you choose to join the fun, just as long as you don't beat me too badly with the rulebooks if I mess something up.

Why would I let rules get in the way of a good story?
Just for a head's up... I accepted the statement "No name, faceless heroes that strike down their enemies in one blow are boring. " as a challenge.
Though I must note that there's no guidelines for building a character posted. Level and attributes are useful for more than the crunchy mechanics of D&D... they're critical to describing a character and writing a background. Obviously a level one character won't be on the run from one of the Dukes of Hell or planning vengeance on a lord of the abyss for the death of his angelic mother... he wouldn't have made it two steps. There's a sentient race of penguins in the Spelljammer campaign setting called the Dowhar.
A race of telepathic penguin businessmen.
Some things were just flat out targetted for genocide in my Spelljammer game.

@Xen: Let me guess, your character is named "No Name" and they wear a mask that covers their face?
I'm looking at having your characters start around level 7 to 10. Somewhere in there. I figure that's enough elbow room to make an interesting character. It also puts them in range of prestige classes. If they are shooting for a prestige class with special requirements (i.e. meeting their diety, etc), I'd like to know so I can look into possibly putting that into the story somewhere.
@goshuto: Can your penguin speak Common?

Hrm... I'm thinking all stats start at 10 and 35 points to spend. Stats cannot exceed 18 unless a racial modifier effects it. If you are playing a bestial race, that will be different. For instance, if goshuto plays a penguin, the base stats would be quite different.
Example:
Norman the Flesh Golem
STR 21
DEX 9
CON 14
INT 4
WIS 11
CHA 1
You'd have to spend 8 points on Intellegence so that the golem can speak Common. This character would probably spend most of his time standing outside if you leave the Charisma at 1.
@goshuto: I guess he'd have to be drunk often, eh?
Well, since I haven't gotten any applications to approve or disapprove, the answer is: whenever.
Once I approve enough applications to begin play (4, I think), I'll allow one more week for anyone else to join before starting the game.

Heh, I just checked the Dowhar's (Spelljammer penguins) stats, and found this special ability:
Alcohol Immunity (Ex): Dohwar are immune to the effects of alchohol.
No drunken penguins then, I guess. |

I think I can do better than No Name with a Mask.
10 + 35 ... how about an example that is not a flesh golem? Like a human.
Is it the
1 to 14 = 1 point per attribute
15 and 16 = 2 points per attribute
17 and 18 = 3 points per attribute
In other words to get from 10 to 18 is it 8 points (super-heroic system) or 14 (standard D&D point buy system).
In other words is
Str 16
Dex 16
Con 16
Int 16
Wis 16
Cha 15
