found this on the net somewhere.. and its rather useful!
------------------------------
Activate more Gore in Gothic
I believe this is rather useful, since you can follow the
blood flowing from hurted enemies... Open up the text
GOTHIC.INI (in the "System" folder) there and find the line:
bloodDetail=2
Change this line to:
bloodDetail=3
Then Gothic will be even more fun to play.

gore is maybe useful, but I just do not like when game is too realistic in this area

I track enemies by blood trail in Deus Ex as well as Gothic. Messy as it is, it IS effective.

On the topic of gore, I used it to track in Gothic too, and I like the extra realism, however, it's still not as realistic as games like Blade of Darkness(Severance in European countries) and Die by the Sword(this was a really awesome game for it's time if you had the expansion pack) where not only is there blood, but limbs(and heads) fly off during combat as well. Think about it, if you are using sharp melee weapons, there are chances someone will lose a limb(or his head)during a fight(especailly against lightly armored or unarmored foes). I was hoping that with Gothic 2, they would have a gore level 4 in the gothic.ini file where limbs can go flying during combat(you would not have to see it, but those who wanted to could).

Looks like we've got Grey Hulk. How's Vegas treating you?

Limbs flying everywhere isn't what I buy a CRPG for... but I guess I wouldn't mind them there. But I'd rather they fixed more bugs than coded in more animations for 20 foot gushers with particle effects if you happen to lop someones head off...

Actually, I always wondered how and why the hulk turned from Green to Grey. Can anyone enlighten me? With this name, youd think I'd know, but I haven't kept up on comics much since I was a teenager.
It's kind of funny to think about, here I am saying more realistic medieval combat(with limbs flying)would be a nice touch to Gothic 2, yet in another thread, I said that I'd like more non-violent solutions(such as talking to someone and convincing them of your point of view and possibly avoiding a fight, and perhaps even making a new friend, rather than being forced to kill someone).

I think it was issue 331 in May 1987 that Bruce Banner changed to the gray Hulk. Banner used a gamma ray machine to change himself into the gray Hulk and save his buddy Rick Jones.

It is good to see that comic book trivia is also included in this forum .

Realism is okay. I also like it in a FRPG. Why not? The fact that you can dismember people doesn't mean that you have to do it. On the contrary, it might mean that it can be done to you as well, which might - might - promote cautionary play.

I'd like to be able to build fetishes out of people's corpses.

I just wished they had implemented something like locational damage. That would be enough for starters .
