How to fight quickly? I have 2 lvl's on one hand weapon, but still can't fight efectively. How to swing?

Without that I can't beat stronger guards and beasts. Please help

learn 2 handed weapon skills. That increases your fighting speed and %critical hits

There are several combinations that work well. I found timing my defence the hardest. I used forward-left-right-defend a lot but more combos are listed in the faq. Just go to the middle of nowhere to practice.
Also I think that you need to upgrade your strength before you can even scratch some creatures (snappers, orc dogs)

The fastest way is to press left mousebutton+right, then release it real fast, and do that again. That way you don't have to wait for the weapon to go all the way almost behind your back to swing back.I beat every enemy this way, even the trolls don't get near me.Just watch out with firelizards.

Well I found that when you do get trained in the skill, all that yakkity yak they are saying while the "Learning: 'X' Skill" is across your screen, they are decribing the new combo you've learned.
This one I learned with two handed master goes like this:
Forward, Forward (slight pause)Forward.
Basically this moves carves and X motion into opponents chest followed by a 1-handed backhand slash to the throat.*

*This one move will leave whole armies of orcs at your feet. I dropped the 1st half of the orc town on the bridge (about 12 of them) all in one heaping pile...I lost about 15 points of health throughout the whole fight cause 2 hand has SUCH a long reach, and when you do the combo right, each slash follows IMMEDIATELY after the next! So weapon drawn or not, Orcs dont even get within range of you to swing!

1hand master has a move similar:
Left, right, forward, forward
or
Forward, right, left, forward
one or the other, but when done, its 4 consecutive shots again: 1 right after the other! Just like those nasty moves the OC guard put on you when you get out of line.

hope this helps, I've typed for so long now I forgot the topic

Ok I remeber topic now: Ok those combos work and if when you add the right swing, I believe you can link the combos to the point where you are just a swinging blade in front of enemies...no delays with the sword all the way behind your back:
Kinda like (Combo)+right/left swing (combo)
will allow you to keep your balde in motion all the time.
2handed is different, one of the trainers will tell you this important:
With two handed weapon, due to burden, no 1 combo can be duplicated twice. In other words you cant do:
L swing
F swing
R swing
two times in a row, you will delay. Hard to actually write it, like someone said, head off into the woods and practice

This is about one handed weapons. I'm still early in the game:

If you are untrained, you can only make left-right-left.... swings and attack forward after right or left swing. Also you can make forward x 2 (3,4....) attack, but it's very difficult if you're untrained. And one more: your attacks are slow, comparing to trained and master levels.

with trained and master levels, you can:

forward x 1,2,3 and 4 but
you can change you moves to left-right swings olny after one forward (in
faq: two forwards ?) and this must be right swing. You can attack forward after any swing. If you make 2,3 or 4 forwards,
you can't change to left - right swings.

Also you can wait for enemy (including monsters) to attack you first
(stand with block: action + back), then when enemy delays attacking, start with
forward-right-...-forward-right-.....-forward-right.....

Has anyone been able to do what's written in faq ? (with one hand weapons - 2 forwards instead of one forward and left/right swings between)

Yep. I've been able to do it..I went Right, Left, forward, forward (forward again??)...

This does the double cross slash, obviously, attacks forward, slash forward, and then a spinning slash attack. Be forewarned, though, that during the spinning attack, most monsters will be able to hit you, thus breaking your combo. I've found the L-R-F-L-R combo is nice...boring, but effective..

A very effective tactic to use against almost everything is hold your use button and tap up rapidly. If you do it right you can get 3-4 swings in one second. Very handy. This is with One Handed anyway. Does training in 2hs help in any way with 1hs? One more question, is 2h really that much better than 1? Or are to goods and bads.. Fill me in. Now I'm in the Sleepers Temple after the 3 stone block puzzle. I've been using 1hs the whole game with some magic and almost everything has been cake to kill. If 2hs is better then maybe it's too good and takes away the challenge.
