mine report quest --diego, fajeth and marcos problem

I have found and talked to all three. The guy Grimes is dead when I find him. Supposedly I need him to locate Marcos but I found Marcos anyway.
When I go back to the king in the castle, he says
he needs the report on the third mine? I've looked at a walkthrough for
this and he should accept the info and send me back with "proof" to
the chief paladin back in the upper city, so he will give me the Eye of Innos.

Grimes just gives you an idea where Marcos is, I found Marcos by accident once and finished ok. You say you talked to all three, did you do Fajeth's quest? If so, you might have to restart and find and give him one report at a time to figure out which one is giving you the trouble.
