Who else remembers Nemesis: A Wizardry Adventure |
|
Well, okay, it was no CRPG but what they called an action-adventure then. Still, it was the only Wizardry - spawn I own (besides the original Wiz 7 and the Wiz 8 demo).
If anybody else happened to play it, what did you think of it? Was your version playable? Mine certainly wasn't. I had the German version which was buggy enough to crash the game in critical puzzle-solving situations, and even with the patch (which only existed for the English language version) I wasn't able to finish the game. The patch made the critical crash-prone puzzle solveable, but one or two hours later the next critical crash finished the game for good (at least for me). _________________ Jaz |

i played this one (german patched version) - i had no crashing problems, but i remember the game had difficulties with some cd-rom-drives.
It is a good adventure game. _________________ =Member of The Nonflamers' Guild= |

Ahhh HiddenX, so we meet again . Okay, I liked the game too, and if the troublemaker was my CD ROM drive I might even try to reinstall it. _________________ Jaz |

I played it all the way through and won it. I never had the crashing problems described. Mine was the US version and I never patched it.
I found the game to be a lot of fun. I'd recommend it to people.
One thing I found was that you couldn't "break" the game by getting too powerful for the combats. As you said, it's not really an RPG in that sense. Since it's single, uncustomizable character with relatively fixed combats, the combat situation is always relatively fair. There does seem to be an autoleveler similar to Wiz8, so that if you return to a prior area the combats are tougher. (This is especially true in the initial village area.)
IIRC, the game is relatively linear. There's a crypt area that can be done at any time, once you're strong enough. And there is one other area where you have a choice between which path you want to take first (you'll eventually take both, either way). Other than that, the game for the most part leads you to where you need to go next.
@Jaz-Good to see you here in this forum. _________________ The world itself shifts and changes and fades to mist like the strings of a minstrel's harp, and mayhap the dreams we forge are more enduring than the works of kings and gods.-Robert E. Howard

Hm, I now saw that I even had the NemCDFix but the game still didn't like me. Oh well, I have scores of other unfinished games at hand... still, thanks for the effort HiddenX.
Bilbo: I had a very hard time playing Wiz 7 and I got bored to death by the Wiz 8 demo, so this place here would not be my natural habitat. But I'm always with you in here even though you can't see me post ... _________________ Jaz |
