Etherlords 2: Review @ GameRaiders |
|
A review of Nival's/Strategy First's RPG-flavored tactical combat game 'Etherlords II' can be found at GameRaiders today. Rating: 85%.

Here's a snippet:
You wander through vast landscapes controlling your character in an angled camera 3D perspective view. Unlike Etherlords, Etherlords II allows you to control one character throughout the game. Miscellaneous combat with baddies that are randomly spread throughout as well as quests that you can complete via NPCs allow you to gain experience and loot. Taking a page out of the classic RPG book, Etherlords II surrounds you with hundreds of optional quests as well as the more defined and usually more complex required quests which must be completed to progress in the game. As usual, the completion of optional quests will allow your character to build experience and arsenal which will in the long run make the game easier and more entertaining.
|

Has anyone played this game ?I was wondering how much rpg there is in it compared to chopping trees, picking berries, milking cows, digging for gold and building stuff to try and defend against a computer that is much quicker than you at creating an army of high-end soldiers slaughtering your farmers and loggers and maybe,if you've had the time.one archer? |

No, but I've played the demo a bit. Not sure about the the milking cows and building stuff - it's not an RTS. More of a cross between HOMM and Magic: the Gathering. Combat switches to an "arena" where it's you vs the enemy but you don't don't battle directly: each of you summons critters based on the cards you have in your deck and it's turn-based. Pretty good fun, actually, but quite hard (for me, anyway). |

I think it's a fun game too, although it's very misleading that the reviews says there are hundreds of optional quests. I'd say instead there are maybe 1 or 2 in each of the 4 campaigns. The game is somewhat linear as another review says, but still very fun. If you play on hard you will really have to think to do some of the battles. |
