Killing the Rice Lord or his thugs is not necessary; in fact, it can cause problems in the camp since they're technically members of the New Camp.
The only way killing one of them will affect your quest log is if you kill Lefty. Your journal will say that you've killed Lefty and that you never liked him anyway. |

Let Lefty life for the first time you knock him down. Talk to him again and he will give you 200xp. Then say him to hold still, then he will attack you, be sure you took his weapons the first time thats more fun he will fight with his fist, knock him down and kill him then. |

You don't have to kill any of them, but if you fight Lefty in front of everyone the RL will attack you and you have to fight them both. I went back at mid-night, sneaked into the RL's hut and beat him first, then he didn't attack me when I fought with Lefty.
There was a guy named Bane in one of the Batman films with George Clooney wasn't there?
