| Recommendations for Ordering US-Versions of Games ? |

Hello,
I have the following question:
I want to play an english version of KOTOR, because I hate translations. Due to the american version being out on Nov. 18th and the english being out on Nov 28th, i am thinking of ordering the American version in an online store in the US or an european store that sells US-Versions and let it be sent here ( Germany) in the hopes of getting it earlier than early December ( UK + 3-5 days ).
So i`m asking you which american online store or other that ships internationally at a reasonable price, isn`t too expensive and is renowned for being fast and reliable could you recommend to me ?

Being Australian, I'm not sure my experiences count but I probably buy import more games than I buy locally.
DVDBoxOffice - Cheap, free freight (standard mail), nice people BUT don't have online stock or shipment tracking. And the free freight is slow-ish. I don't use them much because when I import a game I usually want it fast.
EBGames - Good online feaures (stock, shipment tracking) but relatively expensive prices and freight. Sometimes delay international shipments a couple of days to double-check credit cards.
Gamestop - The most expensive all round - but also the fastest US store I've used. I use them when I have to have a US game fast at any price.
But...
shop.game.net (UK) is my all round favourite. Fast, cheap-ish *and* Royal Mail gets to me in 3 days for only a few pounds. Excellent. But you're not looking for a UK vendor.

www.okaysoft.de is specialized in imports. If a game is in stock they´re very fast. Call them and ask if and when they´ll receive US versions.

I'm with Dhruin on this. However, one other I've used at times is www.dragon.ca They don't send the box which is why their freight is usually quite cheap.

I’m in the US so I don’t know if they’re any good for international buying but I’ve bought a number of used books through amazon.com and been quite satisfied. Their international shipping rates are here. |

No, they don't sell US versions. I didn't mean to suggest they were the right answer for your situation - just that they're very good if a game is released in the UK.

I've used Amazon also. They have been the best I found online in U.S. but I live in U.S. I know they have some international shipments. They also have links to other stores on some stuff.

Although I've never bought there, I've heard good things about www.cdromshop.com
KOTOR is on the front page.

Whilst we've bought books from Amazon, their Help page says "Toys, games, and video games can be shipped only to locations within the U.S., U.S. protectorates, and APO/FPO addresses".
I've never tested this in practice but it doesn't look like they'll ship games internationally. No idea why.

I was referring to the U.K. selection for some of the games here at RPGdot. I know I saw that offered with some of the games I bought in US. That is all I know about it. Sorry if it doesn't work for what you need.

You might take a peek at gogamer.com. I don't know for certain if they ship internationally, but I think they do.

It all depends on what you define as international. EC based internet shops can ship throughout the EC. Which is of course a completely useless answer to the original question 
I'm not sure why games are not send outside of the US/Canada just like that. I know that US publishers don't send out test versions of games outside the US/Canada either. I don't think it's a tax related thing, it must be some kind of restirction applied by some kind of law or agreement.

I'd say it's some sort of publishing jurisdiction. For a LONG time, bookshops here could only sell the UK editions of books and not the US editions. I think different areas of the world have different distributors etc. and one is not allowed to service someone elses area.
