Ok, I'm new to these boards. Hi.  Sorry if this topic has been discussed before.
Well I bought Morrowind yesterday, and I seem to be having a little trouble. I start playing and everything is normal and plays smoothly except when I try to open the hatch to get to Seyda Neen. That's where the trouble starts. I push the spacebar and my computer freezes. Sometimes it says "Loading Outerior", and then freezes. I really want to be able to play this, so can anybody please help me?

I think you need to update your drivers.
Try the drivers for your grapics card (and sound card).

disable the real time shadows.

I have a Hewlett Packard with a Pentium III Processor. I don't know what sound or video card I have, is there a way you can check that? I downloaded the patch, and I have the shadows turned off all ready. Do video/sound cards cost a lot, because I'm kind of low on money right now. |

You need to find out what kind of cards you have right now, and download the latest drivers for those cards.
The drivers can be downloaded from the sites of the cardmakers on internet for free.

You might find what kind of card you have by:
right mouse click on desktop.
select properties
Then setup??? Where you can choose resolution.
It might say: Plug and play mnitor on "your grapichs card".
Might be a easier way to find your card.
I don't know it right now.
Might be in setup of the game.

If you dont know what video card you got, your in for a whole lot more frustration, lemme tell ya. dont even buy a game without knowing that first. judging by the Pentium 3, you've probably got somewhere around a 32Mb geforce2 mx or something lower. unless of course someone custom built the system.
Morrowind will suck your system dry. in fact, alot of games from now on will be extremely hard to play on older systems, even with everything updated and the games options all the way down. i remember when i got Doom(for 50$ friggin dolloars) and was playing it on an old AT-style pc, with windows 3.1. man, those were the days...
BTW, is hewlett-packard still around? i hadn't heard much from that company in a long while...hmmm

I checked and I have a Nvidia Riva TNT2/TNT2 Pro(HP). Should I update this from the website then?

Well I found the site and I'm d/loading the latest update as I type this. How do you find out what kind of soundcard you have? I'll try to update that one too. If it still doesn't work, can you download and good video/sound cards off the internet for free? |

(This assumes you're using Win95, Win98 or WinME - can't help if you're running WinXP unfortunately)
If you have a Windows key on your keyboard, hold it down and hit Pause/Break, alternatively right click on My Computer and select Properties. Click the Device Manager tab, scroll down to "Sound, video and game controllers" and double click to expand it. Your sound card should be listed here, amongst other things. |

Sorry man, the actual card is something you'd have to purchase - it's hardware. You should be able to locate the latest drivers for your current cards for free though, just check manufacturer's web sites. |
