with everything that i have heard of being excluded from the international versions of Gothic, i feel that we, the loyal fans, have been missing out on parts of the game that add even more uniqueness. The arena fights, the In Extremo concert and whatever else was excluded should be modded back into Gothic.

about the In Extremo concert, i dont know anyone who would mind that it is German, i think it would not sound near as good in english.

please reply if you feel the same!

There were no arena fights in the German version, either. The concert was omitted for copyright reasons, so well, go ahead, do a copyright violation .

...besides, there's a way to see the latter, anyway.

By the way, that's a Gothic 1 topic.

But I would sign a petition for piranha bytes to show some more interes in english players. I mean, come on we don't get any patches or anything for gothic2 .

First off, the English language versions usually come pre-patched.
Secondly, ask JoWooD or Atari - marketing/selling/distributing etc. the English language versions are their jobs.

Pre patched? Well, i don't dare to think them how the game looksed before patching. It's full of bugs, it keeps crashing and it works slow (especially in the city). Ffs, you buy a game and then get this . If i wasnt a huge fan of gothic1 and the story wasnt so damn good, I don't know if I'd play gothic2. I'd probably give it up after 2 or 3 hours.

Blame your PC for the crashing. The game is rock stable on correctly configured machines.
Bugs, yes, there are many. Most of them were not in the German version.
Speed - this has been improved in the add-on. Nevertheless, nobody said everybody can play on maximum graphics quality. 100% is standard, not 300%.

Many peoples have problems with gothic2 crashing. Already at 180% you can't see objects that are about 200 meters from you. I think the game was made for 300% . But the game is just so good I have to keep playing it. I bet I would enjoy much more if I had german version (and I also could play the add-on by now).

I think that English Gothic is a big problem! English (or even other
languages) versions are much verse! And I (and many gamers) don't
know German enough to finish Gothic in 1 time!

You should have seen the first version of my post.
Scribblesī thread made me angry. It was (a)superfluous because (b) it ignored well known facts and (c) it was posted in the wrong forum.

Jaz explained the details.

I agree that the English versions are in worse condition than the German ones. Could you rephrase your last sentence? I donīt understand it.

Maybe. And still I think in at least 9 out of 10 cases the user doesnīt know how to correctly build and configure his PC. The two times I had stablity problems with the game or the add-on it was (1)undersized CPU cooler and (2) spyware.
Piranha Bytes themselves even talked about 95% of the instabilities being caused by old drivers, viruses + scanners, background programs, power supply, CPU cooler, ... . When G2 came out I didnīt believe it. Now I do. Many gamers couldnīt update their chipset drivers if the new version would be rubbed at their nose, not to talk about more complex things like puzzleing together one of the few working NForce2 driver combinations.

PB made this absolutely clear in a few forum posts. 300% is for P4 3GHz with 1 GB RAM and an adequate graphics card.
The original version is always better. This time the Germans are lucky, often the English speaking people.

That is nice to know. Can you give as an idea about how significant an
improvement they achieved (i.e % of or perhaps fps in 200% visibility in
the city) ?

P.S I'll have to agree about Gothic2's stability . I played through the game
twice and had one "system hang" (the first time it loaded the VoM !) only.
Most issues I have heard of have been caused by antiviruses and crappy
audio drivers (read first batch of audigy 2 drivers for example).
