I decided to become a mercenary ... I came back to Lee with Hagen's offer.
I asked Lee for better armor and Lee tells me to complete a task that Onar
gave to Torloft quite a while ago (getting rent money from Sekob), but I've
already done that task (and it is in my "Completed Tasks" logbook), but when
I talk to Lee he keeps telling me to complete this task. I've tried talking to Torloft again, but the only dialogue available is "I want to improve my abilities".
So, how do I get Lee to offer/give me better armor? I even went to Serkob and beat him up again and back to Lee and Onar, but that didn't help.

There are two tasks.
- Get rent from Sekob
- Kill the Militia on Bengar's farm
To become a Mercenary you have to choose one, Torlof gives the other one in chapter 2. After that quest you can get the Medium Mercenary Armor.
You probably still need to kill the Militia.
If it really is a bug: you can also get the armor in the Castle in the VoM.
