Vanguard: Saga of Heroes Site Goes Live |
|
Sigil Games Online and Microsoft have launched the Vanguard: Saga of Heroes official site. The usual goodies can be found including Concept Art, Lore, Forums, FAQ and a searchable Bestiary (which I couldn't get to work). Here's a snip from the front page:
Vanguard: Saga of Heroes will be the premier third generation massively multiplayer RPG. A vast, seamless, immersive virtual world filled with elements of familiar High Fantasy, including traditional themes and more, all depicted using cutting-edge graphics technology. Sigil’s expertise and experience in the field will bring groundbreaking static and dynamic content to the genre. Vanguard will build upon the successes and strengths of earlier MMOGs to improve popular game mechanics and features, but also address these pioneering games’ mistakes and deficiencies. Vanguard will focus heavily on interdependence, challenge, and reward, while simultaneously addressing tedious and annoying issues, including camping, excessive downtime and more.
Despite all sorts of info about Sigil's goals with this title, I really couldn't find much that tells me what it's all about. |

Looks good so far. The leaked screenshot is marvelous. Also, they havent released any solid feature list, which is somewhat typical of MMOs. I mean, they should at least have a feature list. But thats because they are releasing the info about the game a little at a time, which progressive tactic i am really starting to dislike. JUST GIVE ME ALL THE DAMN INFO IN THE FIRST PLACE, thank you very much, then i will be able to determine whether i want to devote time and money to your game or not. Im NOT waiting with baited breath. Im playing other games. I have better things to do than sit in your shadow. |

Regardless, the graphics were at least two times better than EQ2 -- and thats saying alot. It was basically Half-life 2+ quality stuff. We are talking about armor that actually looks like real armor. Near photo-quality, but not quite. After all, its a fantasy game. It was photorealistic up to the extent that high fantasy can be photorealistic. Good stuff. |
