HoMM 5: Message from UbiSoft

There is an <a href="http://dynamic3.gamespy.com/~homm/index.php#PQN436130" target="_blank">interesting newsbit</a> for fans of the 'Heroes of Might & Magic' series over at Celestial Heavens. It links to a <a href="http://heroes.gry-online.pl/strona.php?page=news.php" target="_blanK">Polish website</a> that has some words from a UbiSoft representative about the plans for 'Heroes of Might & Magic V'. It looks like UbiSoft is planning on finishing the title in-house but will not be able to release it as planned in spring 2004 as all teams appear to be busy with other projects at this time. <br>A little reminder: UbiSoft has just recently acquired the 'Heroes of Might & Magic' licence by placing the highest bid for the franchise at a 3DO (who went bankrupt) assets auction.

We're unsure about the validity of that rumor. The source is not clearly identified, the May 2004 target is meaningless, and it just doesn't sound like something a PR person would say. Ubisoft reprensatatives did not answer our inquiries yet...

I guess we'll need to be patient.

Thanks for the update, Angelspit. I have modified my newsbit a little to make it more obvious that we are on rumor territory regarding this story

There's more about that this morning. A Russian fan has contacted Ubisoft's technical support and the company apparently has plans for a Might and Magic game in addition to a Heroes game. The Heroes team is currently understaffed because of the work on the new Warlords game.

That's too many rumors at once, there has to be some truth behind all this.
