Dungeon Siege: LoA - Slaughtered @ Gamespot |
|
Ouch! Gamespot has reviewed Mad Doc's expansion for Dungeon Siege, Legends of Aranna and came away none too impressed. The score is 5.4/10 and here's a snippet:
Put it all together, and Legends turns out to be an exercise in tedium. There are whole stretches of the game when you're just steamrolling through monsters, smashing boxes, and then moving on to the next room so you can kill more of the same monsters and smash even more boxes. Repeat this about 20 or 30 times per chapter, and it begins to feel more like Dungeon Crawl rather than Dungeon Siege. Couple this with the game's frustrating hardware problems, and this is an expansion that you're better off skipping. Instead, we recommend that you wait for some of the promising mods that are being developed by the Dungeon Siege community, or you can just wait for Dungeon Siege II and hope that the next time around the gameplay will have more to offer.
|

It seems games get worse when they stay the same.

You know this is a subject Im wondering about anyway
Why release an expansion a year and half after the game?
You should release an expansion six months after the game I would think. |

Maybe they don't see this like that and just see it as an expansion to be released before DS2. Something that fills the gap. _________________ Kewl quotes:

For the price the expansion was worth it. It was less disappointing than more expensive games lately. I couldn't finish Dungeon Seige (never did) but LOA was.I'm burn't out on dungeon crawls. Must be, I finished LOA on autopilot. The best parts were the weapon sets and the scenery. No strategy, just kill and move. I uninstalled it quick. |
