The guy at the beginning mentioned a reward.......was the reward getting the guy to shut up? or is it to be determined?

You will get a reward once you deliver that letter to the mages in the old camp. If you hand the messege over to Milten then you get a choice of rewards, if you insist on giving it to the High Mage personally, then you just get a ring of strength, no choice. Whatever you do, do not hand the letter to anyone apart from Milten |
