| Atari hints at NWN, RPG announcements... |
|
Less of a hint and more of a teaser announcement, really. NW Vault has spotted a post on the Atari forums from Atari PR rep, "Grok". He refers to new "NWN stuff" and some RPG announcements at E3 in May:
Thank you for taking my rather obvious bait!

I expect to have an official announcement about the first title out in the next week or two. However, this is a console game and very unlike Temple, NWN, BG, etc. That said, it is absolutely fantastic -- so if you own a PS2 or Xbox you'll want ot keep an eye out for this one.

We'll also be announcing a new D&D title in May. Solid developer but not a RPG. More details to come then.

D&D Online -- this one has been announced and is being handled by the fine folks at Turbine. We'll be showing this game off for the first time in August of this year in Mexico!

There are however, two tentative annoucements we're planning for E3 that should be very big and just what you folks are looking for. I'm a big RPG geek myself and I'm excited...so that tells you something.

We've also got some new NWN stuff in the works that should be pretty cool.

So, lots of D&D goodness in the future.
|

Not a RPG they say though ... so that would then be TOEE-tactics? |

No.. it's like that:
1) New game for consoles (PS2/XBox)
2) New D&D game which is not an RPG
3) D&D Online which is in development at Turbine
4) Unknown new RPG to be announced at E3
5) Unknown new RPG to be announced at E3 |

The second game which they'll announce soon is not a RPG. However...
"There are however, two tentative annoucements we're planning for E3 that should be very big and just what you folks are looking for. I'm a big RPG geek myself and I'm excited...so that tells you something."
I read: 2x RPG titles are likely to be announced at E3.
"So, lots of D&D goodness in the future"
The whole post is about new D&D products from Atari. He isn't specific that the two E3 announcements are definitely D&D but he doesn't separate them from the D&D stuff, either. _________________ Editor @ RPGDot |

In a post further down that thread, Grok says

Another black day for PC roleplaying, it seems.
Just take a look how carefully unspecific this post is written. It smells of bad news all over. From the way I read this, no (non-MMO) RPG for my platform from Atari anytime soon, maybe a couple console 'rpg' ports later.
Any day now, I might just start to believe what the doomsayers have been foretelling for years now... |

I wish this statement carried a release note about eng NOTR for gothic 2. that would be a lot more exciting than NWN and D&D info IMO.
later. |
