I have just played the demo and while the graphics were amazing and in some places poor I enjoyed the character interaction and the gain of wealth through evil and good methods.
I am seriously considering getting Gothic. I am a Diablo 2 veteran but I have no experiance with this sort of RPG.
Also in the Old camp I notice some of the characters can't be hurt. Is this true for the full game. Also how many possibilities does this game have. Do you end up joining the same camp every time or can you freely choose which way of life you want? |

Certain characters are invincible if they are plot important later in the game. For instance, if you're in chapter 2 and you want to kill person "X", but person "X" is an important part of the story in chapter 4, then you will be unable to kill him until after he makes his plot specific scene.
Now, ontop of that you need to do certain damage to hurt other people/monsters. So, if you can't hit someone/something that you need to kill, then make sure you go get another 5-10 points in strength. You can go lurker hunting at lvl 5 with melee weapons very easily if you have over 30 strength and a solid weapon (like the 29 damage axe you find very early in the game).
You can join any of the three camps, they each have their own tiny mini story, but the game plays out the same once you reach a certain point.
It's not as fast as Diablo 2, has much more conversation, story and exploration. |

Whats your final opinion on Gothic?
Would you say that Gothic is the current best RPG offering on the market or could I get better? |

I can not say if Gothic is best RPG. But I can say it is good, really good.
I am also Diablo II veteran. Gothic is not Diablo II. Only thing they have same is this "freeletterstemp" RPG (other graphics, other charakter growing, other portion of action, other interaction with world).
But... do it. Buy this game. There is big possibility you will love it (and there is little possiblity you will not like it).
