What is this "comic book?"
Is it like what Manga is to Anime?
Is it a joke?
Is it official, or fan-submitted?
Some linkage would be nice.
*searches for gothic comic*
*finds unrelated results, and mostly pr0n*

The comic book is what Manga is to Anime in as far as it's the prequel to Gothic the Game from Milten's point of view. It's official, not a fan product, and I ordered it at Amazon.de.

Mud was thrown into prison for having sex with animals. Its one of the things he will say to you when he is following you around. He says something like "They threw me in here because I like animals, is that why they threw you in here too?"
Torloff the mercenary was a sailor on a navy ship, he was part of an attempted mutiny which failed and got him thrown in prison.
One of the rice field peasants is there for tax evasion.
I would also assume that all of the master thieves(guys who teach lockpicking, pickpocketing)like Fingers were thrown into prison for burglary, pickpocketing,or robbery of some kind.
Cor Kalom is an alchemist, could he have been manufacturing drugs on the outside?

It seems obvious to me that the original Guru's were part of a secret bug worshiping sect that was arrested by the kinks men.
The original mercenaries were part of Lee's loyal followers who would not swear fealty to the king.
( where else would they get their armor?)
Gomez was a minor lord that got too gready for his own good. Raven and his group were his most loyal followers.
Gorn and Karim were mercenary fighters who joined Lee's group after getting booted in.
Mordrag was a petty thief who sold drugs for the bug worshiping Guru's before being tossed in.

I don't think the mercenaries had any connection to Lee before they were thrown into prison. Someone tells your character that the mercenaries were recruited from among the toughest fighters of the colony.(if the they were Lee's old buddies,or his men you would have been told that) Also we know Torloff had no connection to Lee prior to being thrown into prison. Torloff is there because he is a mutineer...a pirate.
Also,if the mercenaries were former professional soldiers, they wouldn't have had their @sses handed to them by Gomez's guards(who are criminals also, not professional soldiers) at the Free mine. In my opinion most of the mercenaries were criminals, rather than political prisoners like Lee, and didn't work for Lee until sometime after they were thrown in prison.

I am sure that the map maker was convicted for counterfeit.
The tavern owner was a bootleger.
Y'Berion looks like a warrior for me, it's hard to tell what kind of problems he had with the king. |

What about Thorus? My guess would be murder. I would also guess that Gomez was a convicted murderer.
I also wonder what Homer did to end up in prison? He seems like a pretty intelligent guy, and has engineering skills, since he designed the dam in the new camp. |

Perhaps a structure that he built broke and hurt its occupants. This is on the same logic as some of Hammurabi's laws. |

The first thing he asks you to do is kill Mordrag. How nice can he be?

I don't know about that, he wanted Mordrag dead pretty badly.

i dunno about the rest of the (plural) "Me" out there, but I was in the kings army, when i was the Kings royal bodygaurd and enforcer (weilding my massive zweihander of course) when an orc charged him i attacked the beast, and my back slice, cut the king. see thats why he looks all wounded in the beginning movie. the bastard threw me in the colony, but i'm willing to forgive him.
