Flaming Cage in Rapax Rift - I have the key????

I am at the Flaming Cage in the Rapax Rift and have the Flamequencher Wand. So I should be happy, I'm not, because the key doesn't seem to do anything. I am standing in front of the keyhole and I can't "use" the key. I can only equip the flamequencher wand as a weapon. How do I get into the Flaming Cage to get the stuff inside????

I'm pretty sure you grab the staff out of your inventory (so it becomes the pointer) and click on the keyhole. It doesn't get "equipped" or "used".

Yes, you choose "use item" klick on staff and then click on lock.

That or you can maneuver your party to a corner and exploit a graphic error.
