turning off that damn voice!

hey, im new to gothic, been meaning to get it for a while, but only did recently.

overall the game is looking good, running (relatively) well, and there are few crashes or problems.

that is, except one. i cant stand the voice of the character you play! and there is no way of turing it off unless you also turn off the sound effects, and they are a key part of the realism in a game, so i dont want to.

at first i thought they must have an option to turn off the voices, and when i saw the subtitles option i was glad, but you cant turn off the voices seperatly.

its really bad - i have an annoying habit of latching on to silly things, and then letting them ruin the gameplay. i have been meaning to play the game at least three times, for each camp, but i wont be able to if this goes on.

anyway, i was wondering if anyone knows what files i have to delete to get rid of the characters voice? or is there a switch i have just missed? please, its ruining the game.

This is actaully rather quite funny because I play with no voices at all. All the other sounds are there except the voices. I don't know if I turned it off somehow, (it was like that at the start) or if my computer is missing some sound thingo. I don't mind playing without the voices but I wish I could just hear them once.

To 'disable' the speeches rename the following *.VDF to *.VDF.OFF (simply an file extension diffent from .vdf/.mod)

[GOTHIC]/Data/Speech_Babe_Speech_Engl.VDF
[GOTHIC]/Data/Speech.VDF (only if full installed)

Secondly edit [GOTHIC]/Vdfs.CFG and remove the line: $:\data\*.VDF,255 so the engine doesn't recognizes [GOTHIC_CD2]/Data/Speech.VDF (or play without CD =).
