Two other suggestions -
1) Take your box, manual & disks back to EB, and try to get an even exchange for another copy of the game because the disks are defective. If it's something with the physical disks, this should solve it. If EB won't do it, Sir-Tech probably will.
2) If you have really ticked off the Higardi some how, and I can't figure out how you would have did this in the monastery, there is a note in the monastery which when given to Lord Braffitt reportedly turns the Higardi back to being friendly. (Don't know for sure, I never needed this.)

This "robot" thing bothers me too, as I have no idea of what you're talking about. If it's not one of the following, I seriously think someone has monkeyed with your disks:
a) A statue of Phoonzang is in the upper monastery (click in the base and his name will appear)
b) Towards the end of the lower monastery, there is a room with a plaque on a wall and a statue holding a skull in the upraised hand
c) In the upper monastery there's armor for a samurai enclosed in glass - are you thinking that's a person?
d) Lower monastery - there is a statue at the end of a room with the sarcophogi and the pool of water at the end
None of these things talk, so if it's one of them it's a non-issue. Another question: do you see a green, yellow, or red dot on your radar when you approach the "robot"? If yes, you've got a live one that doesn't belong there. If no, then it's an inanimate object which you can't pick up (unless it's in white, which means you could pick it up, which would make it even stranger....)

I expect he's talking about Altheides (forgive my spelling). Hey! That could be it. Did you attack Altheides from a distance? He starts as green on your radar. You won't be able to melee with him (he starts a scripted discussion once you get in range), but you might be able to attack him with bows and slings... That might make the Higardi mad.

Yeh it is Altheides. I never attacked him, he shows up green on my radar, but he didn't talk to me (I thought he was a robot). So I just left him there.

He is a robot, at least IMO. You have to get within a few feet of him to trip the conversation. He'll talk for a while, then you'll get a surprise visit, and then you're free to go. During that script, you cannot do anything besides converse.

I'm afraid I'm pretty well stumped on what caused your problem. Hopefully, by restarting, you'll clear whatever corrupted data bit you in the caboose... Although we're admittedly biased here, Wiz8 is a fantastic game. Hopefully, you won't get frustrated too much more.
