Silent Storm: Development Report @ RPG Vault

Nival's Dmitry Zakharov makes his second appearance today with a Silent Storm Development Report at RPG Vault. Here's a comment on the RPG elements and a tiny snippet for Jagged Alliance fans:
Regarding the RPG system, we wanted to make it as flexible as it possible, giving players the freedom to develop characters any way they chose. We strove to make it clear and easily understandable, with a flat learning curve. We also made sure that each character had a distinctive personality. That's why we paid close attention to each character's biography, skills, primary and secondary attributes, etc. In addition, instead of a fixed set of portraits and voices, we allowed the player to create the appearance of his or her alter ego in the built-in editor.

We had some help from Sean Ling, who worked on Jagged Alliance series. It's to his credit that many characters have become folk favorites just weeks after the game released - for example, the Ukrainian grenadier Taras, who appeared on many magazine covers.
Silent Storm hasn't made it down here yet but by most accounts it's the best TB squad strategy to hit in a while...I'm looking forward to it.

Played the demo just yesterday and was quite impressed. Feels very similar to X-COM combat, and a bit like Fallout's.
