I think I remember the endings depend on your level of humanity. If itīs somewhere around 30-40 you can make an ingame decision which determines your end sequence. The other cases are obvious.

All three endings were short but right in the face. Evil and rewarding.

I fiercely disliked Vampire: TR. I was very annoyed with how the elegant storyteller system was bastardized into a weak Diablo clone. It was the first time I actually cursed Diablo for being such a bad influence on the rpg genre. There were even barrels with red and blue potions in V:TR, for cryin out loud.

If I weren't a huge World of Darkness roleplayer, I'd probably would have liked it but I know what the system is capable of and I really wished that Nihilistic would have stuck to the system as much as possible instead of taking the easy way out.

Hmmm... I'm probably way off here, since I haven't played Diablo, but wasn't it a 2D, isometric, hack-n-slash clickfest with a very weak story? If that's what Diablo was then it seems like it would take more than red and blue potions to call a 3D, third person game driven by a rich, deep, story a Diablo clone. I'm not familiar with other games (World of Darkness?) using the same interface so it probably does make poor use of the system. I think, however, that comparing VTMR to a simple hackfest is patently unfair. The story in VTMR was riveting, the environment was incredibly immersive and the acting was peerless compared to any game I've ever played.

I'm not arguing with you, btw, (well... I am about the Diablo clone part ) I just wanted to point out the reasons why VTMR is, and will remain, one of my all time favorites.

You are certainly welcome to your opinion, Gig and I respect it. However, I will always stick by my opinion that elements of Diablo found their way into Nihilistic's V:TR. Besides the fact that certain disciplines were used and certain clains were represented, those were the ONLY elements of the roleplaying system that were actually used in the game. I found that appauling. Nihilistic did take the easy way out rather than try and be true to the system, like Black Isle/Bioware was with their D&D games.

IMO, it was mainly a hack n' slash fest. There were few bits and pieces of riveting story sprinkled throughout, which were good, but for the most part, you were skulking through dungeons, caverns and what have you. I would say it was easily 85% dungeon crawl and 15% actual story. Even when you go to the present day, you're still skulking through warehouses and the like.

As I said in my previous post, if I weren't already a WoD table top roleplayer, I doubt I would have been so disappointed in V:TR.

So did you win the auction? ..... I hope not

I remember this game being hyped like hell so I went out and got it. I think I played it for two hours, met an Stone Golem (I think) that beat the crap out of me and decided that this was one of the most disappointing games ever (OK a bit harsh there ).

OK, it may be that I didn't play it enough but what I did see was the most linear game of all time. Look linear up in the dictonary and you will see this game.

Well, I don't even want to bother with the fantastic DM feature. What a joke. Bioware don't look here!

Besides that it didn't fell like a Diablo clone to me.
