Fallout 3: Solid Proof of Existence

All right. Before you start tearing me apart, let me say that the headline (the "solid proof" part of it) was directly taken from the source of this newsbit . Just check it out at RPG Codex.
As Killzig states: You can pretty much gather that Jefferson has been put on indefinite hold on account of licensing issues and BIS has tossed their full force behind a Fallout 3.

Look at the bot closely, it has letter "V" painted on it... hmm, maybe I'm just imagining things here... I sure as hell would like to know what F3 project is all about.

@Silvayn Really bad news, apparently the “Jefferson” was put on hold indefinitely, many believe that “Van Buren” is Fallout 3 yet to be announced. Also there is another project “Phoenix” where action takes place in post-apocalyptic world.

I've read some speculations, that the Jefferson project was put on hold ever since BlackIsle/Interplay lost rights on the BG series... too bad they are just speculations and too bad it was put on hold. I'd exchage a game from that series for another Fallout any time

Although the reasons are speculation, Jefferson is definitely on hold. It's seems too coincidental to me that many people were speculating that Jefferson would run into licensing troubles and then suddenly it's confirmed that Jefferson is indeed on hold. J.E. Sawyer then commented that Van Buren would likely be officially announced before Jefferson and it's hard not to make assumptions...

Still, it's only speculation.

Well if black isle lost the rights to dungeons and dragons...

Why are they making baldurs gate dark alliance 2? q4 2003. They didnt make baldurs gate in the first place but they are making that console game.

It is interesting I would like to see a fallout 3. As most people know though, the authors of fallout formed the company troika and made steamworks, and are making TOEE.

Its all very confusing really.

I read through this story though, and I saw no reasonable reason to believe there is a fallout 3 coming. Did I miss something?

Well, you have a Falloutish looking artwork in JE Sawyer's desktop, a shortcut to "F3 Project Server", some 50s music in Winamp playlist, and a "Re: Get Together" e-mail from Troika's Tim Cain in Outlook.

Furthermore, you have Black Isle's Chris Avellone, JE Sawyer and Briareus speaking all speaking "hypothetically" and opening new threads in the Interplay forums about Fallout 3, AI, perks etc.

Oh, and Black Isle has a license to make Baldur's Gate games for CONSOLES up to 2008.

Ok thanks I didnt actually read the words in the desktop.

The music isnt fifties music that Im aware of. But there wasnt any fifties music in fallout really. 50s tv and education type films....

One of the network connections does say f3 server. another says fr6 server...

Theres an email from tim cain that says re: get together

Its all almost like whats wrong with this picture lol. Well I hope we see what it means sometime soon.

I think Jefferson might be BG 3 since I saw some rumours in another forum a couple of months ago about it. What a pity its put on hold. I would have prefered that over FO3.

I'd hardly call it solid proof but its a nice clue. Even the font that "gasbot" is written in reminds me of Fallout. I hope its true.

About the FR6. Might that mean Forgotten Realms 6? I don't know who at Black Isle works on what, but I guess that could mean either something like BG3 like some are saying Jefferson would be, or maybe just BG Dark Alliance 2. Won't that be their 6th Forgotten Realms game not counting expansions? Just an uneducated guess.

(Coincidentally, I just started up F2 again. It's a sign!)

If it does in fact mean that Fallout 3 is actually coming this time, then my sentiment is that of joy. Niceness.

Just for the hell of it, and because I like reading message boards anyway, I went to interplays forums and tried to figure out what the rumours are.

First off, the developers at Black Isle do regularly post in the boards.

They post cryptic things just to get fans interested, I think it is partly advertising.

The games they work on are given code names.

The total information I got was " Jefferson is on hold, Van Buren ( CRPG products) is what were currently working on"

Well aparently Jefferson was Baldurs Gate 3 and they are forbidden to compete with Temple of Elemental Evil so they dont have the pc license.
Aparently Van Buren is supposed to be Fallout 3. Which is the same engine.... I thought to myself well why dont I dig up the desktop I saw from what was Jefferson so I could see what fallout three might look like...

These desktops and spy shots are actually hosted by interplay, and they at one time had pictures of what was supposed to be baldurs gate 3. All of those are dead links now...

So anyhow that was where my internet search led me. Right now I have only 1 picture of a buldurs gate 3 monster. It is aparently a 3d game with 2d backgrounds.
