Knowing you guys, it's probably been discovered already, but here's a real cheasy tip to kill trolls without losing any health:
Have you noticed how slow trolls turn? Run up close to them and quickly run around them to their back. When you get to their back you can take one or two overhand swings before you have to run again to face his back. So you'll be constantly running around the troll slicing at his back while he keeps trying to turn to face you. Works like a charm, even the black troll didnt see what was coming to him.  |

If you're a mercenary or a paladin, that's a good trick!
If you're a magician of fire however, just blast his brains' out(if you've got powerful enough magic)!  |

Well, this trick works on nearly every creature. All you have to do is simply get as close as you can - still run into your enemy and turn after him swinging your sword or whatever you have in hand. Creatures simply cannot hit you, because you are too close to them. This can be considered as a HUGE bug in the game. Lizards, Field Raiders, Dragon Snappers, Seekers and other beasts can be easily killed by this way. |

Heh that is cheesy. Some creatures seem to try and do this to me though, especially goblins.

Another thing you can try, did it as monastery novice. =)
But it might require more skill on your part. Simply tap the backward key just as the troll is about to hit he will miss, then rush in slice slice, step back rush in slice slice. =p |

Yeah that step back tactic works against most things aswell, Even Dragons and tehre Dragon breath (The one that pushes you back) I dont see it as a bug tho, I think it adds alot more fun to fighting. |

Thats what makes Gothic games great, different way to do things! Anyone remember the Orc village massacre from Gothic 1?
For the trolls you can use a skeleton for a decoy with any class and while the troll tries to beat up the skeleton you can kick his butt. The skeleton does some fair damage to it as well. This tactic works in many other situations too. |
