hmmmm
/thinks about all the games ive played this year... i have no idea what i would say the 'game of the year' is for 2001..
gothic was definatley one of the best, but i dunno.. ill have to have a think |

Gothic was without a doubt the best RPG of 2001. There weren't many good RPG'S released the last year unless you count Throne of Baal
and Diablo 2 LOD but those were expansion packs and shouldn't count as full games. I didn't think Arcanum was very good and those of you who think Wizardry 8 was the best RPG
must be smoking crack. |

I think that GOTHIC needs some support as "game of the year" nominee.
Have a look at the site linked above. look at all the nominated games and try to find GOTHIC. Nowhere to be seen!
I've no doubt that cool and well known games like MaxPayne, CastleWolfenstein, etc. have enough supporters already to be mentioned on top of the lists.
But who votes for GOTHIC if not the few ones that heard about it, played it and liked it? |

There are just several good RPGs in this year. But Wizardy VIII is strong competitor.
Here is todays order of best 2001 RPGs in Czech Republic:
1. Wizardy VIII (Sir-Tech)
2. Arcanum: Of Streamworks & Magick Obscura (Troika Games)
3. Gothic (Piranha Bytes)
I voted for Gothic. But you must say, Wizardy and Arcanum are also very good.

I thought Wiz 8 was a piece of junk. I sent it back after 3 days and got a refund from EB. The battles are endless. If your fighting 15 NPCs - which happens - it can take an hour for the fight to end. BORING!
