Cant find file...

Guys I hope that you can help me.

I'm in Chap 5 the Orc Temple, I have managed to off two of the Shaman. However the third is proving to be a bit tricky, every time I use the third switch the game locks & boots me to the Desktop. With this error message:

B: File Err:-2: Cant find file: _Work\Data\Sound\ITRW_2H_ORCSTAFF_01.MRM:
Code: 255

I have had this error before, but never in such a critical place. I have tried vatious options but to no avail. I have mailed PB tech support, but as yet I have had no reply. If you can suggest anything I will be very grateful, I need to finish this game.

Gothic patch level 1.08k.

System Specs.

Dual PIII 1Ghz @ 133FSB.
ASUS CUV 4XD Motherboard.
512Mb PC133 RAM CAS 2.

40Gb over 5 SCSI HDD UW 68 Pin.
Adaptec 29160N SCSI Host adaptor.
Windows 2000 SP2.

TIA

Try putting the CD in and let the autorun start up, then when it says install, uninstall, or repair, use repair

2 tips

1.Before you repair or uninstall, you'll better make a copy of your last savegame. I don,t know if the savegames then still work, but you can trie

2. Use cheats to insert the sword.

Thanks Striz, but I have already done a repair. I suppose I could do a Re-Install & see if that sorts it out.

Yup I hoped the re-install would work, but it didn't. Same crash same place.

Freakie, thanks, I had thought about using the cheat for the sword. I was looking forward to cleaving the undead Orcs skull with my big chopper . It looks the only way to go however, bugger. I'm just wondering if it will happen on the next two also? That would be such a let down.

Thanks again for the suggestions.

Just to keep this upto date. The problem has been bypassed. I got a reply from PB giving me a copy of the FAQ with a statement saying that a solution for my problem is contained.

Well I read the FAQ & the only one that could be close to a solution for the problem is to disable the sound in the Gothic.ini file. It worked, but no sound (duh!). I am now able to continue & if it resurfaces I will just have to disable the sound again. A somewhat lame solution, but a solution none the less.
