Can you remap the short-long rang weapon keys?

I use the number pad keys to play Gothic
and I hate having to reach over and hit 1 or 2 to switch between swords and bows in the middle of a battle. Is there a way to remap those keys that anyone knows of?

You could do it through the ini file.

I tried that but those actions aren't listed in the ini file. Maybe there's a way to add them?
