You want to quit on Gothic? It's not like you're going to see anything better for a while. Why not at LEAST beat it once just so you can say you did.
I'm surprised anyone would quit on this game. It's inconceivable...does not compute...quitting on Gothic...that can't happen!
IT CANNOT, CANNOT, IRRELEVANT!!!

Qutting Gothic...illogical...does...not...compute...
haha, but for real, he's right.
You wont find something like Gothic for a good long while, but it looks like others are trying to make games similar to it (like Morrowind) so while Gothic is a good first of its kind (U9 dont count) hopefully it sure wont be the last |

Really, what other game can you think of that gives you the "go anywhere, do anything" atmosphere like Gothic.
Deus Ex was touted as something of a nonlinear experience (not to take anything away from DX, still one of the best PC games ever made), but compared to Gothic, DX is as linear as Super Mario Brothers. |

Here is what you do. Go back to the Old Camp, turn into a scavenger, then run into the castle to see Gomez. He will give you a special sword.
I won't tell you whee he will put it but, you will get it!
That tower was a bit confusing so the first time I gave up on it.
It took 3-4 tries the second time around when I needed the book. But you have to have a bit of patience.
I almost quit this game when I couldn't pick up my first object. A torch. But the game was too nice to give up and I read the instructions and dl the FAQ. |

I'm gonna have to disagree with your notion that Morrowind is following Gothics path. Morrwind is the third in a series. The two prequels (Arena & Daggerfall) are a thousand times bigger than Gothic and way more freeform (although they were made in the early 90's, so of course they're very dated now). So Gothic would be the follower, not the leader. |
