My comp is FAR below the recommended specs and the game crashes once in a while. Say, every two hours or so, provided I play that long in a row. And since the patch it didn't crash once. Might be coincidence... or not.

After the patch I've had a horrible run of crashes. One nearly killed my savegame (I only use one as the true RPGer I am). But after I turned off the sounds it's been back to the more normal "load/reload" crashes again. Both Gothic and Morrowind have had serious soundcard problems for me. Odd.

In my case (Gothic) the 'sound' problem turned out to be a power problem after all. After I raised VCore voltage (in the BIOS) by 0.05 I had no crashes in Gothic anymore, with or without sound. I don't care if it lowers the life expectancy of my mainboard or processor as long as the games are running without problems .

after a few hours playing the game slows down (much hard drive access -> memory leak ?).
after the patch i had only 1 crash to the desktop.

best solution to avoid the slowdown (or crash): save, close and restart the game after 2 hours of playing.

Uhm.. How do I do to make it run for 2 hours?

I use Morrowind in 30 minute intervals, then I come here to type something illogical and incomprehensible and whiny (and curse loudly for a few minutes), before restarting the game.

I've never crashed, never had a single bug, nor has anything else ever happened to my game to shy me away from it.

But it is still the most unbalanced piece of junk to be released to the gaming community.

Mattias:

i use the 28.32 Nvidia Drivers under Win98, 2 Gigababyte of free hard disc space for the swap file, Morrowind with the patch, i have a cheap on board Creative Labs sound chip with the latest drivers . Via 4 in 1 Drivers Version: 4.37.

Llama:

The game IS unbalanced, in spite of this you can enjoy the game. In my opinion Bethesda made the game easy, because they want it to be playable for young gamers. A big disappointment for rpg veterans, but maybe a good thing for rpg newbies
