Meet the person you want to be with for a very long time in a pub....
Because you know that physical attractiveness isn't key at all to meeting people in a bar... that it's all about the interesting conversation and sparkling personality.
The internet is a great place to meet women... as long as you're meeting women, and you don't lie much, and they don't lie much. Some of my best relationships have started online (as well as my worst).
A game is too hard to judge who is what, however. _________________ Estuans interius, Ira vehementi

My sister met her fiancee and a number of friends on the internet. Of course she did meet a number of psychos beforehand. I think you just need to keep in mind where you are; if you are in a videogame then that woman flirting with you is probably a 13/14 year old boy. (which is a disturbing thought) But if you are on a site like twentyish parents, the forum were my sister met a number of friends , then people are probably being mostly honest with you. |

Don't forget, DzD had a small heart attack when he discovered that Pinnen: a. Was not female, and b. was Swedish. And he was not even flirting with Pinnen - just operating under that assumption. _________________ =Member of The Nonflamers' Guild=

I stand corrected, but it's not for me because you never really know who you are talking to

Unless you're seeking to throw off their aim in a FPS or underestimate you in... just about everything else. If men (BOYS, I mean ... a Western man shouldn't judge someone's capabilities on their gender) are going to be stupid about it... well...
Out side of a game I agree: Do not pretend to be a woman in a singles chat room, a forum, or anywhere else unless you're a transvestite or gay and closeted. I can see why a gay guy would want to pretend he was a woman to flirt with men rather than doing it as himself and putting up with the abuse.
I make it a habit when I play RPG/CRPG to be in character... gender doesn't matter. It's only a game. Guys play women all the time... every modern male author roleplays female characters in his novel as much as every female author plays men in theirs. Those who don't (such as Piers Anthony, from what I can tell) end up with shallow stereotypical opposite gender characters. _________________ Estuans interius, Ira vehementi

@Xen - I'd never thought about Peirs Anthony that way before ... I'd just classified him as an author for teenage males - though some of his early stuff (eg: Macroscope) was pretty darned good. But then, I've not read anything by him in ages so I can't speak to his current works.
As to masquarading as the opposite sex, I have a couple of stories about that ... I don't really feel like going into in it now as it involves a good friend of mine ... but suffice it to say that no good can come of it. _________________ =Member of The Nonflamers' Guild=

Xanth is aimed at a juvenille crowd, no doubt about it. They're fun to read but over-sexed, sexist, and immature.
Even his more serious series (Incarnations of Immortality, Apprentice Adept) have a lack of strong female characters. There are a few that are obviously MEANT to be strong (Lady Blue, most of the Incarna) but come across to me as uncredible and hollow. _________________ Estuans interius, Ira vehementi
