Another corruption question... |
|
Hey all, I'm gonna send in my saved game to Sir-Tech because of the Vi Domina disappearance, which was apparently not supposed to happen (see the Vi thread). I was also wondering whether I hit yet another corrupt aspect of my saves that I should report to them: I have rescued Sgt Glymph from the Bayjin prison hut, and he vanished from the hut, saying he was gonna return to the Umpani base camp. Well, now I've thoroughly explored the Umpani Base Camp, the Mt Gigas Tunnels, and the Upper Mt Gigas Tunnels, and he's nowhere to be found. Note that I haven't been in the TOP security areas (I only have level 5 clearance), so it's possible he might be in those. So, is this also a corruption of my save, or will he turn up in one of those TOP security areas (or somewhere else) ?
thanks

I don't know. The idea was that you were supposed to recruit Sgt. Glumph into your party, and bring him back that way. Assuming that it's not a save game corruption issue, there are 2 possibilities as I see it: 1) I think it's General Yamir who sent you to rescue Glumph. See if he gives you credit for saving Glumph even though you didn't walk him back to the base camp and give you your next assignment. This would mean you've "completed" the quest in your own way. 2) You've screwed up the quest, and Wiz8 now considers this a failed quest. Therefore you will never get the reward or another quest from the Umpani. This is certainly not fatal to your game in any event, and IIRC I never did any further quests for the Umpani anyway. It does mean you will never get some optional quests that would modify your end game a bit. _________________ The world itself shifts and changes and fades to mist like the strings of a minstrel's harp, and mayhap the dreams we forge are more enduring than the works of kings and gods.-Robert E. Doh! I rescued Sgt Glymph before even setting foot in the Umpani base, and I actually camped in that hut, and when I finished camping, Sgt Glymph was gone.
When I talked to General Yamir (a long time after the rescue), he said something vague about Glymph being on a mission, I think, when I asked him about the Glymph. It certainly didn't seem like he knew that I rescued his sargeant!
sigh... This is getting frustrating, people disappearing on me left and right and not knowing that it isn't scripted...

I believe that his disappearance is scripted. Not that this matters to you necessarily, or proves anything one way or another, but after I rescued him and brought him back to the general, he said he was go upstairs, and then he disappeared for good. _________________ The world itself shifts and changes and fades to mist like the strings of a minstrel's harp, and mayhap the dreams we forge are more enduring than the works of kings and gods.-Robert E. I left him behind at least once, and still got credit for rescuing him - he annoys the hell out of me - gripe, gripe, gripe.
Sounds like a bug, though - one of those things where you pick up something or perform an action BEFORE you get the quest and it screws you up. Luckily, this doesn't happen much in W8 - it was the bane of my existence in the oh so buggy Might & Magic IX.
When I finished MM9, I went back to Wiz8 with a sigh of relief. There are really very few bugs of that sort in this game. |
