Bard's Tale (InXile) Preview @ IGN

PC.IGN have penned a short preview of InXile's new Bard's Tale based primarily on currently available information. Here's an excerpt:
There have been a few indie developer remakes released for free on the Internet, but they maintained the 2-dimensional aspect, interface and portrait system. The new Bard's Tale is going to be fully current with the latest developments, like three dimensions. You'll get an isometric perspective like in Fallout or Dungeon Siege, fully animated models, and more colors than you can shake a stick at. Then they have a huge screenplay stretching over hundreds of pages, written by people who do that kind of thing for a living.

They also say that it is being made PRIMARILY for that playstation thing and for the PC as well, almost as a kind of after-thought.Hope dies last but I've become somewhat skeptical of late.

It is really exciting to see more RPGs in future. But everyone should make a reality check here: this new Bard's Tale is an action-RPG, not traditional RPGs. It's for console market, for teenagers. That way, we don't overhype ourselves.

Whether the game will be good or not for more mature gamers, or for people who prefer most hardcore RPGs, or whether the PC version will be good or not - everything be revealed when the game is out on sale. Then, if the PC version sucks or is a half-assed conversion from PS2, it won't be too late for anyone to storms the official forums, screaming:

"Fargo, shame on you!!!".

Well, my bet for a trad. RPG is on... oh, well... you'll know later *grin*

I'm looking forward to the humor used in TBT, though. It's a long time ago since it actually was FUN to play. Hope Mr. Fargo is doing a good job and not just cloning DS.
