Just finished the Demo and had a few thoughts. First of all I think the game is great, it runs fine on my archaic cpu, with a great video card.
I have been promoting Gothic around the net at a few places. I found the demo to be very hard, but I was philosophical about it. Basically I was thinking your character should be 5th or 6th level to do the things asked. Then I found out I could not enter the castle even if I did various things. Paid the bribe. (not available) Could not pick lock into the castle. Certainly could not beat Kirgo. Then
it dawned on me. Jump past the guards. I would not say this was ingenious, but it worked. I got in, dodging bolts, looked around, waited till morning delivered the letter. |

FFBJ, I had the demo for a long time until I could buy the full version.
In the demo you cannot wander too far from the Old Camp.
You cannot enter the castle. Or I should say, they will not let you in.
You can enter the castle by drawing your weapon and running in. But once you are in you can't hear their voices.
You can go beyond the signs "End of Demo area" by going into marvin mode and teleporting past the sign.
Even in the demo, you have the entire prison area available to you. All the buildings and chests and secrets. Unfortunately there are no NPC's beyond the signs so the area is quite boring..
You can insert any weapon, any armor, any person and any monster.
One more note, and this is the most important thing about the game. Don't ever touch Mud's Pink Teddy. He will go ballistic on you. But if you allow Mud to go with you on your adventure, he will reward you later on. You see, Mud is Gomez' son. So if you take care of Mud he will take care of you.

Thanks. Too late for that. He was so damned annoying. I finally got sick of him. That stuff about liking animals... Now when I talk to him he says: 'There has been a death in the old camp, and your name was mentioned.' Sad but true. There are bodies all over the place. Evidence of my frustration. Definitely will get the game. |
