For the first quest gomez gives you, what exactly do I have to do in the swamp camp? I'm so tired of walking around it, said to "keep my ears open", etc.

Perform the quests that Baal Kalom gives you--Old Mine stuff (sans spoilers)--then you can go visit Raven and tell him about what's going on. He'll appreciate it, and you can continue to work with the Sect folks afterwards. |

You Can continue the storyline without going back to Raven. After he told me to keep an eye out, I didn't see him again until chapter 4 or 5. (I forget where 4 left off and 5 started) |

You miss out on a some free exp if ya don't go talk to raven, but at that point it's relatively insignificant amount.
