For the first quest gomez gives you, what exactly do I have to do in the swamp camp? I'm so tired of walking around it, said to "keep my ears open", etc.

Perform the quests that Baal Kalom gives you--Old Mine stuff (sans spoilers)--then you can go visit Raven and tell him about what's going on. He'll appreciate it, and you can continue to work with the Sect folks afterwards.

You Can continue the storyline without going back to Raven. After he told me to keep an eye out, I didn't see him again until chapter 4 or 5. (I forget where 4 left off and 5 started)

You miss out on a some free exp if ya don't go talk to raven, but at that point it's relatively insignificant amount.
