GeForce2MX and Desktop Crashes, From official Forums.

Just wanted to pass this along from the Official Forums:

ISSUE: Crash after a few minutes of game play with GeForce2MX video card

This crash has occurred for several users with a Via based motherboard.

The latest version of Via's 4-in-1 driver can be obtained at http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=2 . Follow the instructions on the web site to download and install the drivers. NOTE: Many computer and motherboard manufacturers have special version of these drivers for use with their hardware. It is highly recommended that you contact the system/motherboard manufacturer to see if the manufacturer has a special version of these drivers. If so, please use the version that is recommended by the computer manufacturer.

This isn't related to Morrowind but I am compelled to pass this painful information along to those who feel like the 4in1 drivers may help.

BACK UP YOUR SYSTEM BEFORE YOU INSTALL 4in1 or the IDE miniport drivers from VIA!!

I went round and around with Via's fix-it drivers and came to the conclusion that they are just as likely to cause complete system corruption as they are to fix any problem. Consider it "magic butt dust." Sure it may work magic but it just as well might make you want to hurl your PC through the window.

The single largest issue I had was filesystem corruption that most definately was caused by the addition of these drivers. When I stopped loading them, my filesystem stopped becoming corrupt.

Load these at your own risk.

Sindau
