 The first private manned space flight just took place today.

After touchdown, Melvill rolled past thousands of spectators in the early morning Sun, flashing the thumbs up. Then he got out and spoke to the cheering crowd.
"The flight was spectacular," Melvill said. "Looking out that window, seeing the white clouds in the LA Basin, it looked like snow on the ground."

Congratulations to Scaled Composites, and thank you for a fantastic show!
Scaled now become the fourth organisation to put a man into space, behind the American, Russian and Chinese governments. Affordable space flight for all is still a very long way off, but this is a wonderful first step on that road.
Last I heard, Scaled may announce an X-Prize attempt by the end of the week - within three weeks the X-Prize may be won! I'm sure if it is that someone will step up and issue the next challenge. Reaching orbital speeds, maybe?

Soon the universe will filled with intergalatic human tourists, I feel sorry for any alien life. Questions, like do you know the way to the spaceport or do you know where I can process this film? Argh!
