I apoligize if I'm too early in the game but.....I'm able to trade with others for items (especialy highly needed ore) but I haven't found or been offered any type of money/gold? Is ore the big money in this world? Thanks...

yes you are able to trade with others.
and yes ore equals $$
People in the old camp to trade with includes: Fisk and dexter

By the time you get to chapter 2 you will have so much money you will be throwing at the mobs to kill them.
