Hello,

I heard many times that it affects how far from you NPCs (and probably monsters, but I am not sure about this) start to "live", it means start to use their artifitial inteligence.

In the manual it says: "Determines how much processor time is given to characters on screen."

I think its partly what Danicek says, but I've also noticed if I have it on low, then NPCs I see in the distence look blocky and jumpy, but if I put it on high they look smooth no matter how far they are. Not sure how acurate these explainations are, but they sound close enough.
