For 10 gold pieces I can tell you...

How to get inside the `City of Khorinis' like a pro

You can forget about `Canthar's Favor', bribing the city guards (100 gold pieces) or even dressing up as a farmer for 40 or 50 gold pieces. You don't pay anybody, don't owe anybody, and don't bribe anybody. And on top of it, you get 500 experience points.

Here's how you do it:
    1. Go around the city walls till you make it to the East Gate.
    2. Go towards the lighthouse (left of the East Gate) and turn left before you make it to the lighthouse.
3.Jump into the sea from any cliff which makes this possible. I chose the cliff far to the right by sliding to the middle of the mountain. I am sure you can go around the lighthouse to its right and try avoiding the bandits, the shadowbeast, some snappers and a couple of orcs. Or you could try jumping directly from the cliff you're on when turning left before the lighthouse.
4.Once `at sea', swim to the left, make it to the Khorinis harbor (you'll see the small boats docked there) and climb the wooden planks. Lares will hand it to you for being such a terrible cheapskate and you'll get 500 experience points for creativity.

For another 10 gold pieces you'll know...
How to get Matteo's armor without paying him

Matteo's armor is worth 250 gold pieces. The same prices goes for a slightly better armor, sold by Orlan, the tavern owner outside Khorinis. If you don't care for that 5 extra fire resistance Orlan's armor has to offer, get your hands on that fine armor stored in Matteo's chest, seized by Lord Hagen and guarded by a militia man.

Partly assuming you got inside the City of Khorinis like a pro, using the method described above and that you can clear about 250 gold pieces by selling all the stuff you found on your way from Xardas's tower, do the following:
    1. Go to Thorben (you'll find him in the lower part of town) and ask for his blessing. For this you will go to Vatras, the guy in the temple square preaching stories about the Gods, and ask for his blessing. Then you'll go to the priest of Innos in the marketplace and ask for his blessing by paying him 50 gold pieces. This done, Thorben will give you his blessing as well.
    2. Go to Matteo and ask for help to get into the upper quarter. He'll tell you to go to Thorben's house and talk to a woman named Gritta. Go to her and threat to sell her stuff. Return to Matteo with the gold.
    3. Go to Thorben once again and ask him to teach you how to pick a lock. He'll teach you for 200 gold pieces. You'll waste 5 Learning Points on learning how to pick a lock.
    4. By this point you've wasted 250 gold pieces. If you didn't find some lockpicks lying around, buy ONE from Thorben. That's another 10 gold pieces.
    5. Go to the wall behind Matteo's store and climb on it. Then jump on his store's roof from a good position and jump behind the guy guarding the goods left to Matteo's store. Pick lock the smaller chest (save and load if you only have one lockpick) and get the armor.
    6. Put the armor on and walk past the guard like nothing happened. Next time you enter the city, the guards will look at you and let you in on account of your being dressed properly.
