Everytime i check on the guy, hes NEVER sleeping, HE DOESNT EVEN HAVE A BED?!?!?!

There are several people who never go to sleep... the gate guards, for example. And I can't remember having Gomez seen asleep once.

if you are trying to steal his recipe when his helper is not there using sneak mode go in the hut and pick the cheast on the left and he wont see you at all

even if his helper is there he doesnt say anything
usually it seems that if an NPC is involved in an activity you can do anything and they dont even notice you

heheh actually, he does have a bed, if you cross the bridge and look in the hut that's right before his apprentice... a nice lil raised bed is there... that's where I slept when I needed to wait for daylight in the Swamp camp His Apprentice got mad in the morning, but by then it's too late
