For a much better one hand weapon, have a look around the mayan temple looking ruins Along the beach you will find a decent one also.....but I ain't saying which beach.
On the first trip to the VoM, keep one thing in mind....RUN! But it sounds like you are taking the hard path to the VoM. Once you come thru the gate, don't go to where the orc is...find another way. _________________ Chris: Dad, what's the blow-hole for?

There's an old mine that will also lead to the VoM, you can use it to get to the VoM without encountering orcs. Now you only need to find the old mine, it's somewhere in the pass. _________________ "Who are we to call this planet Earth, when it's clearly Ocean."

Yeah, I found that way . But it is really hard (for me) in the VoM. Snappers attack in pack, lizard man everywere... I think I screwed it up . So I saved there and started a new game.
I have 120 LP now.
And so I was thinking again what to train...
Learn to forge
Learn picklocking (if you have 60dex, is there smaller chance to broke pick lock, or is it same if you had 30dex?)
I dont know if its better to train one or two handed. But the best weapon that I have is some (one handed) axe (65/65). Tell me!
All the rest goes to strenght... Now I know that I must have strenght high as possible.
Thanks all for answers _________________ Thanks for being so helpfull ! |

You are supposed to run in VoM, not fight, so you did not screw up. The lizardmen/orcs are some of the heaviest fighters you'll ever come across in this game.
A 65 damage axe is more than enough to get through chapter 2. It won't really matter though, the only way to actually fight your way through VoM at this stage is to either use magic(and lots of it), or bow/crossbow, because they get criticals with every shot(dex bonus added to damage), and the skill % simply determines how well you hit, not whether or not you get a critical, as with a melee weapon. This should not concern you too much though, all you are supposed to do is run into the castle, and then run from one mining site to the other, and back into the castle. Remember to get the runes of teleportation(one located at the entrance of the valley, so that you can teleport back when you're going to leave, and one located in the floor about Milten in the old Monastery of the Fire Magicians, so that you can teleport back into the castle).
Dex is the "percentage of success" when it comes to picklocs. In other words, with 60 dex, you now have 60% chance of not breaking a lockpick, where you had 30% before(with 30 dex). |

Yupp, it's one of the best swords in the game, but you don't have to get a weapon like that already in chapter 2. I suggest using a bow/crossbow if you really want to kill orcs at that point(even with a heavy weapon you'll be knocked down in close combat due to weak armor), and even a bad bow does the same damage as the best swords in the game because bows get "criticals" on every shot(accuracy with ranged weapons determine range, but the % on melee weapons deterimes critical hit chance. All ranged weapons get criticals on every shot, so they do great damage early on). |

Actually, its east to beat orc's 1 on 1, with basicaly every weapon. You just need a bit to figure out their 'patern', and to learn when to parry and when to attack. It's slightly tedious, but it works 1v1. You can do this in the pass, as well as the 'entrance' to the pass, for some (relatevly) easy experiance, namely 250 per orc. Save and try it out.
As a note, this has been my first post outside the Shadows for a long, long time. Blasted school! _________________ Join the RPGDot Shadows |

True. Block, hit, block hit will do fine, but the best way is to jump away a little after you strike twice, and then dodge them when they run towards you. Attack twice again, and jump back. Also, remember to block if they should attack you faster than you can start jumping back. This will take forever though if it's early enough in the game, and you can't get through their resistance(or if you are a magician). This works against all humans and orcs, except a few humans with master 1H sword, and a few with 2H. Otherwise it works great. |

Well, yeah. If you've got the patience to kill trolls, then you've got the patience to kill orcs this way. In fact, trolls are even MORE time per experiance point. Not to mention the travelling to find one. ;D _________________ Join the RPGDot Shadows |

I only kill trolls when I can hack'em down in a few seconds, or have the summon demon spell with a magician(shrink is circle 6, summon demon is circle 5, and is as good at taking out dragons/trolls as shrink). The whole run-around-killing-things-way-above-me-just-to-get-a-little-xp thing is just not my style. I take everything I can take somewhat easy, and leave the rest for later. For instance, the orcs outside the castle in the valley of mines, I always leave untill I have Rain of Fire(if I'm a magician), so that I can take'em down FAST. |

I only do it with guys that have swords, so you can block and test your skill. With trolls you just have to dodge the blows, that's no fun. _________________ "Who are we to call this planet Earth, when it's clearly Ocean."
