When I had originally left the mine after getting the list from Ian, I decided to twist the winch. After noticing that it closes the gate, I just decided to leave it at that. Assuming if I ever return then I just twist the winch to raise the gate. Well, now that I have returned, the gate will not open. I twist and twist the winch but nothing happens. I can't get in! Has anyone encountered this bug? |

Everyone in the universe and their dog has encountered this bug. Never, ever touch a winch unless there is a quest that requires you to do so. And then, make sure you have been given the quest before touching that winch.
A way around this is to enter Marvin Mode, get close to the gate and press 'k'. That will teleport you forward a bit so you pass the gate.
EDIT: Beat me to it. Shucks.

Thanks for the help!
I had found this forum well after starting Gothic. So up until now, I had no idea there was a winch bug. I am very well aware of other bugs though.

You´re welcome.
Good to hear you informed yourself about the other bugs. Most of them are harmless. The only dangerous issue are corrupted savegames, experienced by a few players. |
